Overthinking anything — whether it be situations, opinions, or people’s actions — can cloud your judgment and prevent you from taking action. It invades your mind with doubt, non-existent obstacles, negativity, and deteriorates the happiness in your life.

Steps to STOP overthinking

  1. Ask why are you overthinking
  • Most of the time, overthinking is brought on by fear — usually a fear of making the wrong decisions about something. This may include, making the wrong decisions that may lead to failure, embarrassment, or other negative outcomes.
  • To help overcome these fears, you should remember to view the situation as an opportunity for learning, not as a situation where all will be lost if you don’t get everything right. If you end up making the right decisions, that’s wonderful and will prove to be a positive thing to look back on. If you make the wrong decisions, you can use them to learn how to better go about these situations the next time around.

2. Become Action-oriented

  • Think Less, Do More
  • If the outcome is not what you expected, learn to imPROvise

3. Think about the master plan

  • Overanalyzing a problem makes small problems much bigger than they really are.
  • Look at the bigger picture by asking the question will all this matter after a month, a year, or after 5 years.

4. Stop waiting for the perfect moment

  • You believe that there’s always a perfect moment for things which leads to intense procrastination
  • Don’t wait for the Perfect Moment, Take the Moment and Make it Perfect

5. Set time limits for making decisions

  • Set time limits according to the decisions like Small Decisions or Big Decisions
  • Once the time is over, avoid analyzing the situation and take your final decision to move on

6. Give your best and forget the rest

  • Sometimes we find ourselves in a situation where we think like we aren’t enough dedicated or smart to do the work.
  • In all such types of situations DO YOUR BEST 100 and don’t worry about the outcomes.
  • Sometimes the outcomes depend on factors that we can’t control

7. Learn to recognize and stop extra thoughts

  • Ask yourself that is all the thoughts are helpful to you and if the answer is NO then mentally say STOP to your mind. FOCUS on the work
  • Don’t try to predict the future or situations that have not happened or are going to happen.

8. Practice Introspection

  • When you find yourself overthinking, grab a notebook and write down your shit overthinking ideas in a single column. It’ll help you mentally to stop overthinking.
  • Now to stop all this, create another column and write what can you do about each thing that is bothering you.

9. Consider the Worst-Case scenario

  • ask yourself
  • What’s the worst thing that can happen?

10. Don’t be too hard on yourself

  • Life will not go always as you plan it to be.
  • Stop criticizing yourself
  • Learn to forgive yourself

11. Think Usefully

  • What do I need to do in order to complete the task?

Understand that Not all things can be controlled. Important is to learn how to accept it
